Information for parents

Your child wants to run their own Minecraft server with NebulaNodes? Here you find everything you should know as a parent or guardian: costs, safety, data protection and who to contact.

What is NebulaNodes?

NebulaNodes rents out Minecraft servers. A server is a private Minecraft world that runs on our computers in a data centre in the Netherlands (EU), 24 hours a day. Your child can invite friends to play together, install plugins and mods, and manage everything in a web dashboard. We do not make games ourselves and are not affiliated with Mojang or Microsoft.

Minimum age

  • You must be at least 16 years old to create an account on your own. Younger users need the permission of a parent or guardian.
  • Login works only with a Discord account. Discord itself has a minimum age (13 in most countries), so your child also needs to meet Discord's rules.
  • Minecraft is rated for ages 6+ (PEGI 7 / USK 6). Content on servers made by others can differ from that.

What does it cost?

  • Free server: every account can have one free server. It costs nothing, and no payment details are needed.
  • Paid servers work with prepaid balance only. Money must be added to the account first (top-up). Servers are then paid from this balance. We never charge a card or bank account automatically, there is no subscription on your payment method, and a purchase is only possible if there is enough balance.
  • If a paid server is due for renewal and the balance is too low, the server stops and is deleted after 7 days unless it is renewed. No costs or debts arise.
  • There are no in-game purchases, loot boxes or hidden fees.

Our tip: keep your payment details to yourself and top up the balance together with your child, for example with a fixed monthly amount. You can see every booking under Top up Balance and Invoices in the dashboard.

Cancelling and getting money back

  • Automatic renewals can be cancelled at any time in the dashboard or via Cancel contracts here, also without logging in.
  • Within 14 days of a purchase you can withdraw from it via Withdraw from contract.
  • If your child paid without your permission, please contact us at contact@nebulanodes.cloud. We will look at it together with you and find a fair solution, such as refunding the unused balance.

Safety on Minecraft servers

The person who runs a server decides who can join and what happens there. As the owner, your child can protect their world well:

  • Whitelist: only invited players can join. This is the best protection against strangers.
  • Online mode: players log in with their real Minecraft account, so nobody can pretend to be someone else.
  • Moderation: players can be kicked or banned, and plugins can filter the chat.
  • Co-users: other people can be given access to the server dashboard with limited rights, and every change is recorded in the activity log.

Talk to your child about who they play with, which personal details they share in chat (better none), and what to do if someone behaves badly. Illegal content or abuse on any server hosted by us can be reported via our report form; we review every report.

Data protection

  • We only store what is needed to run the service: the Discord account, servers, payments and support tickets.
  • There is no advertising, no tracking and no selling of data. We only use technically necessary cookies.
  • All data can be downloaded and the account can be deleted at any time under Settings → Your data in the dashboard.
  • A name and billing address are only asked for before the first purchase, because they are required on invoices.

Details are in our Privacy Policy.

Account security

  • Turn on two-factor authentication for the Discord account; the dashboard shows whether it is active.
  • Never share passwords, SFTP passwords or API keys, not even with friends or in support tickets.
  • Our staff will never ask for passwords.

Questions?

We are happy to help parents too. Write to contact@nebulanodes.cloud; we answer in English and German. If your child has an account, a support ticket in the dashboard works as well.
